Iran calls on Britain for goodwill after releases

LONDON (Reuters) - Iran called on Britain on Saturday to respond to the release of 15 military personnel with goodwill, signalling it would welcome this over Iranians held by U.S. forces in Iraq and its nuclear program.

"We played our part and we showed our goodwill. Now it is up to the British government to proceed in a positive way," Iran's ambassador to Britain, Rasoul Movahedian, told the Financial Times in an interview.

U.S. forces in Iraq have arrested a number of Iranians, including diplomats, in the past and are still holding five. Washington accuses Tehran of aiding militants fighting U.S. forces in Iraq. Iran denies the charge.
